Taka live in groups, this plant likes a shaded environment. The aim of this research was to know information about the shade intensity that suitable for growing of taka .The study was conducted in Biological Research Center, Cibinong since January until July 2012. Experiments using a Randomized Block Design with one factor i.e four shade intensity level, consists of o%, 30%, 50% and 70%. The treatment was repeated 8 times, each repeat consist of 3 tubers. The resuls showed that the initial gowth of taka (vegetative stage) require low intensity (shade 70%), Furthermore, after entering the generative (flower ,fruit and tuber formation and tuber enlargement) requires a high light intensity (shade 30%). At 30% shade intensity produced the highest tuber weight (144,24 g), the most large size tuber with diameter 6,98 cm and the highest carbohydrate content (85,65%) compared to other shade intensity %B Seminar Nasional ke-22 Perhimpunan Biologi Indonesia %I Fakultas Biologi Unsoed %C Purwokerto, Jawa Tengah, Indonesia %G eng
